Map of the World! (or just Hockey Stadiums)

Hey All!

This week I thought it would be interesting to put together a little interactive map that will show all of you where all of the hockey stadiums or arenas are located and which team/division they belong too, I also put one together outlining which conference they belong to.

I think an interesting thing to note how spread out some of the divisions are. My two main examples are the Winnipeg Jets who are in the southeast division even though they are located in central Canada. (Which isn’t very southern, or eastern for that mater) My other example is the Dallas Stars who are currently in the Pacific division even though the only major body of water that Texas touches is the Gulf of Mexico. Furthermore, Dallas is on the northeastern part of the state.

In the second map you will be able to see which stadiums belong to either the Eastern or Western Conference.

To me what stands out the most is how far right some of the western conference goes. It reaches all the way to Ohio which is clearly not categorized as west. However it is understandable because of how many teams there are on the east coast which is due to the higher frequency of large cities compared to the west which is more spread out excluding certain areas.

I think all of this is really fascinating, probably because I am a hockey nerd, but I hope all you do as well! I think it is important to know about hockey than just the teams and some of the rules.

Also, here is a little fun fact about my life! Because I am sure you were all wondering. I was once at a hockey game and I decided to strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to me. Turns out he was actually on a tour of all the hockey stadiums in the US, which I thought was really interesting and I envied him a lot because it seems like a truly amazing thing to do.

That is all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the maps and my story! Until next time, I will see you around.
